The saints tell us that Mother Mary gave herself completely to God with a heart full of love. She kept nothing for herself, but offered her whole soul and life entirely to Him. Like a beautiful offering rising to Heaven, her love belonged fully to God alone.
The holy writers also say that the name “Mary” can mean “sea.” This is a beautiful thought, because Mother Mary truly is like a great sea filled with God’s graces. God poured His heavenly gifts into her in wonderful fullness, and through her loving hands those graces flow out to His children.
Mother Mary received a very special grace unlike anyone else. She alone was chosen to become the Mother of Jesus, and because of this she was filled with extraordinary holiness and love. Yet the gifts she received were not meant for herself alone. God filled her heart so that His grace could gently reach the whole world through her.
During this blessed Month of Mary, let us draw close to our heavenly Mother with trust and confidence. The more we come to her with childlike hearts, the more she leads us lovingly toward Jesus, from whose Sacred Heart every grace first comes.
