Jesus Sings in the heart of The Believer! |
In some people, TRUTH is dull and sluggish; in others it is keen and active. Some, who start life with a limited appreciation of TRUTH, become, through persistent practice, souls of honor and integrity. Others whose sense of TRUTH is sharper, more acute, keener, dull this sense by carelessness, and become unfaithful. They refuse to listen to the great Heart of God abiding in them and they never reach that intimacy which seeks Christ habitually, and which the practice of TRUTH bestows on the soul. To focus thought upon the Friend Who resides within us requires Constant Self-Denial, but those in love with Him are ever intent upon listening to His incessant pleadings to surrender to His guidance, and be strengthened bye His Love. For this conquest of self, one rule will suffice, and it is practically infallible: Do The Thing Most Repugnant To Nature. A word of warning though. With regard to interior conquests such as truthfulness, sincerity, patience, resignation, etc., apply it always, the oftener the better. With regard to exterior mortification, OBEDIENCE is absolutely necessary. Thus, submissive, directed, guided not by self―but by God Himself, we give The Holy Spirit of Truth full sway in our Tabernacle.
