Mother Mary, Blessed Among Women

 

 

The saints teach us that the dignity of holy virginity began in a most beautiful way with Mother Mary. She became the teacher and banner-bearer of pure love, because her whole heart belonged to God.

Mother Mary is truly blessed, because by the working of the Holy Ghost she received the Son of God into her womb. She kept her purity forever, and because of this she is rightly called the Queen of Virgins.

She is blessed above all creatures, because she received and gave birth to Jesus, the One who holds all creation in being. The whole world is held up by Him, yet He allowed Himself to be carried in Mary’s arms.

She is blessed because she nourished the very One who feeds every living thing on earth. How wonderful and tender this is: the Creator of all became a little Child, and Mother Mary cared for Him with a mother’s love.

During this Month of Mary, let us honor her purity, her humility, and her faithful love. She always leads her children gently to Jesus.
