Besssed Among Women - 2

 

Saint Eucherius and the Venerable Bede say that Mother Mary is most truly called “Blessed among women,” because through her all womanhood was honored, and the world itself was freed from its sorrow through Jesus Christ.

Just as the Angel Gabriel spoke to the holy Virgin Mary, so Saint Elizabeth also said to her:

“You are blessed among women.”

With these same beautiful words, both the Archangel and Saint Elizabeth praised Mother Mary, so that she would be recognized by all people as honored and wonderfully blessed among the children of God.

And in Heaven, just as among mankind on earth, she is held in love and blessing forever.
