For the heron on the wing,

For the Summer's roses red,
For the fragrance sweet they shed,
For the cloudless skies o'erhead,

For the Autumn's purple haze,
For the beauty of her ways,
For the fruitful harvest days

For the Winter, white and drear,
For the woodlands gaunt and sere,
For the passing of the year,
