Blessed Among Women

 See you at Matins

The Nineteenth Day of the Month of Mary

Mother Mary is truly “blessed,” because God chose her to be His holy dwelling place. Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, rested beneath her heart. She is blessed because from her pure and spotless soul came Jesus, who is the Resurrection and the Life, bringing joy and hope to the whole world.

Mary is blessed because she gave birth to the Savior whom the people welcomed with cries of joy, saying, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Saint Elizabeth also spoke these beautiful words to Mary: “Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.”

Mary is not blessed only because she carried Jesus within her, but because Jesus Himself, the divine Son of God, filled her with every grace and blessing. The holy Fruit of her womb is the source of all blessing for every nation and every soul.

And so, among all women, Mary shines as the most blessed, because through her, God brought His love and salvation into the world.
