Holy Mother of God, ever Virgin; blessed, glorious, generous; inviolate and without stain; chaste Mary immaculate, chosen and loved of God, with singular holiness endowed, and worthy of all praise; who didst intervene in the whole world's danger―Hear, O hear us, holy Mary; pray for us and intercede; do not disdain to help us.
For we are confident and know for certain that thou canst obtain by prayer all thou wilt from thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Almighty God and King of Ages, who liveth with Father and Holy Ghost for ever and ever. Amen.
Bishop Aedelwald (Ninth Century. England).
